MALANG, July 21, 2026 – In an effort to expand global insights and strengthen competencies in the pharmaceutical industry, two students from the Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya (FKUB) successfully participated in the prestigious Pharmaceutical Industry Skill Development Program (PISDP). This international-scale event was organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy, Monash University, Malaysia, from July 13 to July 17, 2026.
The delegation from Universitas Brawijaya was represented by Agata Rahman Arya Manavendra (Pharmacist Professional Education Study Program / PSPSF 2024) and Rufaida Ulin Nuris Sabila (Bachelor of Pharmacy Study Program / PSPSDF 2023). They joined fellow student participants from various countries, including Australia, China, India, and Malaysia.
The PISDP was intensively designed over five days through a combination of orientation activities, expert lectures, workshops, laboratory practicals, case discussions, and career development sessions involving leading academics and industry practitioners.
The series of practical work and technical modules undertaken included:
-
Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Workshop
-
Practical Session on the Manufacturing of Paracetamol Tablets & Indomethacin Capsules
-
Computer-Aided Drug Design (CADD) (Molecular Docking)
-
Content Uniformity and Dissolution Testing
-
Sterile Preparations Practical Session
In addition to laboratory technical skills, participants were equipped with in-depth knowledge regarding Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC), Bioavailability and Bioequivalence (BA/BE), pharmaceutical marketing, personal branding, and career preparation through resume screening and mock interview sessions.
The participation of the FKUB delegation not only provided hands-on experience in production workflows, quality testing, and pharmaceutical product regulation, but also carved out proud achievements. One of the UB delegates received commendation for being the first participant to complete the molecular docking (CADD) session and was chosen multiple times to lead group activities and guide laboratory practicals.
The program proved to enhance academic competence, technical skills, and soft skills among participants—such as intercultural communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and adaptability in an international professional environment.
