Two students from the Undergraduate Pharmacy Program, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya (UB), had the opportunity to conduct their final project research abroad through the UB Stars Batch 3 program. This activity was held at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) from April 16 to May 12, 2025.
The two students participating in this program are:
1. Ni Made Ajeng Gayatri Meitri Paramitha, with a final project entitled “Analysis of Dexamethasone on Indonesian Herbal Medicine (JAMU) Using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), UV-Vis Spectrophotometry, and FTIR Spectroscopic Combined Chemometrics.”
2. Gladis Ajeng Priningta, with a final project entitled “Analysis of Mefenamic Acid on Indonesian Herbal Medicine (JAMU) Using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), UV-Vis Spectrophotometry, and FTIR Spectroscopic Combined Chemometrics.”
This research is part of an effort to develop student competency in pharmaceutical chemical analysis and improve the quality of their final projects, leading to scientific publications. Both students were mentored by Dr. Anggita Rosiana Putri, S.Si., and apt. Bachtiar Rifai Pratita Ihsan, S.Farm., M.Farm., and received direct supervision from an international partner lecturer, Prof. Dr. Mazlina binti Mohd Said from the Faculty of Pharmacy, UKM.
For over three weeks, the students not only analyzed samples using laboratory instruments but also actively participated in discussions and refined their scientific writing. The main goal of this program was to optimally complete their final projects and prepare scientific articles ready for publication in reputable journals.
The participation of UB Pharmacy students in the UB Stars program is expected to inspire other students to continue developing themselves and building international networks, as well as strengthening academic and research collaborations between Universitas Brawijaya and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
