Hanum Bayu Satria, a Pharmacy undergraduate student from the class of 2022, participated in a Research Internship program at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), Thailand. This internship lasted over a month, from June 19 to July 30, 2025.
During this program, Hanum conducted research under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pongsak Khunrae. The research topic was:
“Investigation of the interaction between human angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (hACE2) and the SARS-CoV-2 spike receptor-binding domain (RBD).”
This research focused on optimizing Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) conditions to identify the interaction between the RBD of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the human hACE2 receptor, a crucial step in the development of therapies and vaccines for COVID-19.
In addition to research activities, Hanum also participated in several cultural trips organized by the university to introduce Thai culture to international students.
The output of these activities was the publication of research results in reputable journals. Hanum’s participation in this program is expected to broaden her academic and cultural horizons and strengthen the international network between Brawijaya University and KMUTT. The Department of Pharmacy appreciates Hanum’s enthusiasm and dedication and encourages other students to continue actively participating in international programs that support the development of academic and professional competencies.
