Two students from the Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya (FKUB), Nathaniel Indra (Class of 2022) and Shakina Dhea Fatiha (Class of 2023), participated in the EduCultural‑Research Fusion Exchange (EFEC) Program 2025, organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), from July 22–29, 2025.
EFEC 2025 is an international student exchange program. Forty participants from various countries, including the United Kingdom, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Cambodia, and Indonesia, participated in the program. The EFEC program kicked off with a lively Opening Night, followed by Professorial Lectures by leading UKM lecturers, a cosmetology workshop, and a session on playing traditional Malaysian games.
On the third day, the participants participated in a Clinical Simulation, where they worked on case studies collaboratively with students from various countries, under direct guidance from the Dean of the UKM Faculty of Pharmacy. The program continued with an educational visit to Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) to gain a closer look at clinical pharmacy practices in the hospital.
The next agenda included a Campus Tour at UKM Bangi and a visit to the Duopharma pharmaceutical factory, which provided insight into the Malaysian pharmaceutical industry. On the fourth day, participants took a field trip to Melaka to explore its history and culture. The fifth day featured a Public Health Campaign and Clinical Skills Event, culminating in a Sports Night. The program concluded with an Educultural Night, where each participant showcased the unique culture of their home country. Nathaniel Indra also achieved a notable achievement, winning second place in the Vlog Competition, part of the EFEC 2025 series.
The participation of Department of Pharmacy students in this activity is expected to broaden global horizons, strengthen international networks, and strengthen the spirit of collaboration between the two universities.
