The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Medicine, Brawijaya University (UB), once again held a Visiting Lecturer program as part of its internationalization efforts and efforts to improve the quality of learning. The event was held online on Saturday, May 3, 2025, via Zoom, featuring an international speaker, Prof. Young Pyo Jang from the College of Pharmacy, Kyung Hee University, Korea.
Supported by the Brawijaya University Visiting Lecturer Grant, the event raised the theme “Application of HPLC Analysis on Herbal Medicine,” relevant to the development of natural product research and analysis. Prof. Jang, an expert in natural product analysis and chemistry, shared in-depth insights into the principles and application of High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) in analyzing herbal and phytopharmaceutical products.
The event was attended by fourth-semester Undergraduate Pharmacy students taking the Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry course, as well as lecturers from the UB Department of Pharmacy. The participants’ enthusiasm was evident in the active interaction during the lecture and discussion sessions.
Through this activity, it is hoped that students and lecturers will gain a more practical understanding of HPLC analytical techniques and broaden their perspectives on international analytical practices, particularly in the field of herbal medicine.
This Visiting Lecturer activity also demonstrates the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry’s commitment to building a global academic network and supporting the achievement of Brawijaya University’s key performance indicators.
