Juan, a Bachelor of Pharmacy student, believes that the knowledge gained in college is incomplete without hands-on experience in the workplace. This belief motivated him to participate in an internship program at Kalbio Global Medika, part of the Kalbe Group, a pharmaceutical company focused on the production of biological products such as erythropoietin and insulin.
Juan had the opportunity to intern for three months, from April to July 2025, in the Quality Assurance (QA) department. During this period, he gained a deep understanding of the implementation of Quality Management Systems in the pharmaceutical industry, as well as the strategic role of QA as the frontline in ensuring product safety and quality.
The QA department is responsible for ensuring that every production process complies with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. During his internship, Juan was involved in various critical activities, including instrument qualification, storage validation (thermal mapping), SOP revision, and training related to GMP and Good Documentation Practice (GDP). In addition to technical skills, Juan also honed his cross-departmental communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the importance of accuracy and responsibility in every work process.
His internship at Kalbio Global Medika was a valuable experience that strengthened Juan’s determination to pursue a career in Quality Assurance. He believes that with this experience, he can become a pharmacist who is not only knowledgeable but also prepared to face the dynamic challenges of the pharmaceutical industry.
He believes that opportunities only come to those who dare to try.
